W hile the rest of the world seems to be lapping up summer, here in the southern hemisphere, the rain and cold have finally showed up, and with it, an incredible collection of autumn and winter wear from H&M. The brand has breathed life in to simpler pieces – like ruffled-sleeve sweaters – with hints of attitude embedded in details that immediately grab the eye. The collection excels at offering pieces that transpire seasons and trends, while being both practical and weather-appropriate. To showcase just how versatile, H&M have asked me to style some of my favorite standalone items, and share it with my readers in an organic way.
As a minimalist,
it was important to me that the pieces I chose to style each had versatility. With this in mind, the overall items I chose all easily fit in to my existing wardrobe, while offering a multitude of styling opportunities depending on the occasion.
Pair this blush sweater with simple black culottes and black ankle boots, or up the stakes with white wide leg trousers and faux snakeskin boots.
As is evident in the way I chose to style these looks, to me, effortless isn’t necessarily a clothing piece – it’s a feeling.
Chasing that feeling every time I get dressed, I find myself gravitating towards looser fits. Sometimes this styling choice can translate as being too casual, which is why I have a tendency to elevate a look with statement shoes – be it patent boots, or pointy flats. For the look below, I’d add a black tote bag and biker jacket thrown over the shoulders, and this would make up my weekday uniform – effortless and put-together.
All pieces featured here are currently available to purchase in store at H&M South Africa. To see more images from this shoot, visit my Instagram HERE.
