Christmas in South Africa might not mirror white snow gatherings, knitted-jersey-traditions or copious hot cocoas with too many marshmallows in it, but each new year in this vibrant country rivals the previous festivities and manages to surprise and delight nearly everyone partaking in the occasion. In the spirit of it all, I thought I’d share my favorite things to do over this special time, and show you how I decorate around my space to help get me in to the festivities.
PERSONALIZED CARD NOTES
Make your own card notes. Capture and print your favorite holiday moments and write personalized messages at the back. Your loved ones will cherish their personalized cards, and it’s a great way to share your sweet worded sentiments too!
BAKING HOLIDAY-THEMED BISCUITS
Since I can remember, in our home there’s nothing quite like baking around special holidays, and christmas is no exception. Whether you’re a gingerbread person, or like me love a good ol’ chocolate chip gooey cookie, baking biscuits are a great way to get into the festivities, and can easily be stored afterward for late night gift-wrapping snacking, trust me.
If you can’t do the big tree display, section out a little corner in your room or living space like I did above. You can accessorize your plants with little fairy lights, display festive notes and pictures in frames, and decorate glass candle holders with a ribbon + note tag; the perfect spot to light your favorite scented candle.
