GARNIER SKINACTIVE REVIEW

Today on the blog I’ll be sharing my 7-day experience using the Garnier Pure Active 3-in-1 face scrub, Anti-Shine moisturizer and oil-infused Micellar cleansing water.

In order to get the full effects of each product, I decided to incorporate all three products in to my daily skincare routine as recommended by pharmacist Michèle Lalande. Using various products from the same brand within the same range means you’re getting the right amount of each ingredient, which work in sync with one another to prevent an irritation that might occur when incorrectly mixing acidic chemicals.

I’ll start first with Garnier’s widely popular Micellar water, which is now also available in an oil-infused formula. Since my first use of this product, it has become a staple in  my makeup bag. I carry it with me anytime I travel and use it about twice a day. If you’re like me and are constantly on the go, you’ll appreciate how heavy-duty this cleansing water really is.

The oil-infused formula makes removing mascara and other hard-to-remove products extremely easy, providing the perfect start to your cleansing routine. To ensure you get the most out of this product, use it in conjunction with textured makeup pads – avoid the very fluffy ones and opt for thinner cotton pads like THESE.

After using the Micellar water to remove the bulk of make makeup, I follow up with Garnier’s Pure Active 3-in-1 cleanser. Garnier’s Pure Active range is designed to target blemish-prone skin by removing excess oils that build up on the skin. In addition to this, the 3-in-1 wash, scrub and mask utilities 3 key ingredients (Eucalyptus extract, Zinc and Salicylic Acid) that work together to treat blemish-prone skin without stripping the skin of essential moisture. Unlike some harsher products intended to do the same job, this 3-in-1 does the perfect job of cleaning but not over cleansing.

Once my skin feels thoroughly clean, I pat dry the surface and apply an essential oil to my entire face in a gentle patting motion. I have combination skin that is extremely sensitive and dry in some places. Using an essential oil (like this one from Palmers) soothes dry patches, deeply moisturizers and leaves my skin feeling velvety soft.

Once my skin has soaked up the essential oil, I then follow up with Garnier’s Pure Active blemish control moisturizer. This product has an amazing fresh scent and uses ingredients that help to mattify oily skin in areas like the T-zone.

After a week of using these products in my daily skincare routine, I am happy to report a positive change in my skin’s texture and some improvement in my blemish-prone areas. I was expecting to have some kind of reaction to the ingredients in these products but have yet to experience any irritations. As many readers of the blog would know, finding drugstore skincare products that are safe to use on sensitive skin can be difficult, and, more often than not, can be costly too. Garnier Skin Active has made good strides in closing the gap between affordable products and premium skincare, with these products serving as a testament to that.

With the change of seasons approaching, I will be sure to continue using these products in my daily routine and update you all as we go. If I notice any changes – good or bad – you’ll be the first to know. If you’re interested in purchasing any of these products, you can find them stocked at one of your local pharmaceutics, including Clicks and Dischem.
