EDITORIAL ELEMENTS IN WORKWEAR & HOW TO WEAR IT

I was surprised when someone recently pointed out that my style leans favorably toward boxy masculine shapes – which is true and the statement a mere nod to what’s paraded in my daily outfits on Instagram. That being said, I’ve never consciously committed to an entire wardrobe of menswear, and on closer inspection, you may just spot a frilly item or two (…that number has since increased to 4 but more on that next week.) In light of this recent introspection, today’s look is a balancing act; fusing feminine elements with masculine-inspired pieces to create a look that closely resembles the attitudes of yours truly, the wearer. The center piece for this look is by Studio W, and below I’ve shared my thoughts on why it’s worth investing in and what to look for when choosing editorial style pieces for work appropriate dressing.

Once upon a time perhaps considered a last-minute, borrow-from-the-boyfriends-closet symbol, an oversize white shirt has since grown in repertoire, and besides being somewhat synonymous with uber stylish designer duo Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, has also become a wardrobe game-changer; an all-round key player in updating basic looks. In terms of function, the oversize white shirt is often responsible for making everything from high-rise dark denim, to patent midi skirts, workwear appropriate – which is why they’re so worth the investment.

Studio W’s latest offering, as pictured here, is a current favorite and 100% worth its price tag – considering the cost-per-wear if you’re in to that. Featuring details that can easily be overlooked or missed, like its silver ringlet sleeve detail with two tassel ties, or the structured collar (which is a must in any white shirt) and extra long sleeve cuffs, this piece in its entirety screams: EDITORIAL
